Start making your plans for the Spring 2011 TBK trip to Israel with Rabbi Kotok scheduled for February 13-25. In addition to visiting Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, our trip will focus on southern Israel with a side trip to Petra and Amman, Jordan. Some of the planned activities include a Bedouin experience, Kibbutz Yahel Eco-Tour, visit to an Ethiopian Absorption Center, Old City tour, visit to Yad Vashem, explore the Bible's landscapes at Neot Kedumim and a performance at Nalaga'at Center for the Blind and Deaf. Contact the TBK office if you would like more information. Our friends from Hameln, Germany have been in the news recently with word about the ground breaking for their new synagogue on the same site as the city's synagogue that was burned by the Nazis in 1938 on Kristallnacht. Construction of the new synagogue and community center is already under way. If all goes according to schedule, it will be dedicated next February. For those planning to go on the TBK trip to Israel, a side trip to see the new Hameln synagogue would be a wonderful opportunity not to be missed. More about this story is in the May 20, 2010 issue (#383) of the World Union for Progressive Judaism at http://www.wupj.org.
We are always looking for people to help us develop programs for TBK, to encourage linkages with Israel and World Jewry and to review current events in the Jewish world. Please contact Lou Spiro at levbentsvi[at]yahoo.com or 461-1085 if you would like more information or to be added to our email distribution list.
