Congregatings (formerly TBKers)

The Congregatings (formerly known as the TBKers) meets twice a month and our programs and current event sessions are open to all!

2nd Thursday of each month:  Current events discussion. at 12:00 noon.  Brown bag lunch at 11:30 a.m.

4th Thursday of each month:  Lectures by local speakers.  Brown bag lunch at 12:00 noon, program begins at 12:15 p.m.

Congregatings is an important community resource that meets for a lunch and learn session at noon, usually on the fourth Thursday of the month, except when other priorities interfere.  The group has met for over 25 years and in 2016 added a Current Events lunch and discussion on the second Thursday of each month. The Current Events format is for the moderator to bring 1 or 2 subjects for discussion of ~40 minutes followed by topics that the members bring to discuss. Over the years we have addressed many topics in our lunch and learn sessions presented by a diverse group of speakers recently including Ward Stare, Conductor of the RPO, Mark Cuddy, Artistic Director of Geva, Arnie Rothstein, CEO of RBTL, Chris Bensch, Director of Acquisitions of the Strong Museum.

*Brown bag lunches - Please, no pork or shellfish, no mixing of meat and dairy.

Congregatings Chanukah Lunch

Parashat

Parashat Ki Tisa

In this Torah portion, Moses stays with God on Mount Sinai for 40 days and 40 nights. There, he is given the 10 Commandments on stone tablets. Fearing Moses will never return, the Israelites turn to Aaron, who demands that everyone bring him their gold, so he can make a golden calf. When Moses comes down the mountain and sees the people dancing around this idol, he smashes the tablets on the ground. God punishes with a plague all the Israelites who were involved. Moses builds a tent to be his meeting place with God.
