Georgia Senate Runoff

As has been noted by the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, our democracy is strongest when everyone participates. It is important to make sure that Jewish voices are present in the public square, regardless of political party. That is why we are helping encourage participation in the upcoming Georgia election. Nonpartisan civic engagement work is one way that we fulfill the sacred mandate of tikkun olam, world repair.

Earlier this year we supported a postcard mailing initiative to encourage citizens from throughout the country to vote in the 2020 general election.

Now there is another project underway to contact voters in Georgia to help get out the vote for their upcoming runoff election in January.

Members of the TBK Social Action Committee have arranged for postcard kits to be delivered and we are seeking volunteers to assist in the completion and mailing of the postcards.  The postcards come in sets of 30, and each set contains, in addition to the cards, a script, voting information and voter addresses.  You provide the colorful handwriting, eye-catching decorative work and $10.50 worth of postage and let the postal service do the rest.  (And, we can help out with the cost of postage if need be).  A typical finished postcard looks like this:

The postcards must be written, stamped and mailed by December 7.  If you are interested in taking part in this Get-Out-the-Vote opportunity and writing 30 postcards, please let Ayala know ASAP at ayala.emmett@rochester.edu
